Between 1765 and 1784 Koryūsai made more than eighty woodblock prints featuring flowers and (or) birds. Ten of these prints are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Koryūsai took full advantage of the then recent advance in printing technology which made multiple color printing possible. The use of multiple colors plus the novelty of his designs likely contributed to the popularity of his prints. He was the most prolific flower-bird printmaker of his time.
